There are generally two types: a filling and sealing machine for bag production and a filling and sealing machine for bag feeding.

Bag-forming, filling, and sealing machine type

It is suitable for manufacturing pillow-top bags, three-sided and four-sided sealed bags, flat bags, and stand-up pouches. Depending on the bag shape, the following types can be distinguished:

Filling and Sealing Machine for the Production of Reversible-Shaped Bags
The figure shows a schematic flowchart of a vertical, intermittently operating bag-making, filling, and sealing machine with reverse forming for the production of pillow-shaped bags, which can handle the production of plastic film bags, longitudinal sealing (overlap or butt seal), filling, sealing, and cutting of the material.

After the flat film 3 has passed through several guide rollers, it enters the collar former 4. There, it is first sealed by the longitudinal sealing heater 5 and formed into a cylindrical shape. At the same time, a measured amount of material from the dosing device falls from the hopper 1 through the feed tube 2 into the bag. The cross-seal heater 6 seals the bottom of the bag and pulls it downward. It seals the bag previously filled with material and separates the two bags from each other with a cut. The fully filled bag 7 is removed from the system. The individual actuators of the machine can be controlled automatically—mechanically, electrically, pneumatically, or hydraulically.

Filling and Sealing Machine for Bag Production in Tower and Cubic Column Configurations

This machine is primarily used for filling and packaging liquid beverages, and the packaging container can be tower-shaped or cubic.

This machine is primarily used for filling and packaging liquid beverages, and the packaging container can be tower-shaped or cubic. The illustration shows the operating principle of Tetra Pak’s filling and sealing machine for cubic soft drink packaging. After the packaging material on the flat film roll 1 has been printed by the printing device 2 (if text is already printed on the packaging material, this step can be omitted) and the hydrogen peroxide disinfection tank 3, it is guided downward by the guide roller 4 and rolled into a cylindrical shape by the forming rings 5 and 7. The seam of the packaging pouch is heated by sterile air as it moves downward, and the packaging material is pressed into a longitudinal seal by the longitudinal sealing heater 8 as it passes through the final forming ring 9. The liquid material (such as juice or fresh milk) is pumped by the pump through the liquid supply line 6 into the cylindrical packaging pouch, and the sterile hot air enters the cylinder from outside the material line and reaches the liquid surface. There is also a spiral heater 10 on the liquid surface, which sterilizes the inner wall of the material and forms a layer of sterile air on the liquid surface.
Horizontal sealing and cutting take place below the liquid surface. Different configurations of the horizontal sealing device result in different products in cubic column and tower packaging. In tower packaging, the upper and lower horizontal sealing cutters are positioned at 90°. The space is offset, and the up-and-down as well as open-and-close movements are performed in sequence to complete the horizontal sealing and cutting of the packaged items. In cubic column packaging, the cylindrical material bag is pulled downward below the liquid surface, and the forming, sealing, and cutting are performed through the combined movement of two pairs of right-angled forming tools and the horizontal sealing during the opening and closing as well as the up and down movements. After cutting, the semi-finished product falls onto the intermittently running conveyor chain. While the conveyor chain is in operation, the finishing processes—such as folding the flaps and corners of the material pouch—are completed, and finally, the finished product is unloaded from the conveyor chain.
Flat films for beverages such as juice and milk are typically made of composite films such as wax paper, aluminum foil, and polyethylene. Before rolling, the outer surface of the wax paper is printed with text instructions and pattern marks. A cubic column box consists of a flat composite film and features an aluminum drinking opening on the top. Open the aluminum drinking opening and insert a straw to sip the beverage.

Direct Transfer Bag Filling and Sealing Machine

Just fill and seal—no bag production.
Before operating the bag feeding, filling, and sealing machine, various pre-processed empty bags should be stacked in the empty bag box. During operation, an empty bag is removed from the stack in the empty bag box each time and held in place by the conveyor chain clamp at each station to complete each packaging cycle.

Bag feeding, filling, and sealing machines can be divided into two types based on the path of the conveyor chain: linear and rotary types. In the former, the conveyor chain transports the empty bag in a straight line; in the latter, it rotates. However, the basic operating principle is identical. The figure shows a schematic representation of the straight-line bag feeding, filling, and sealing machine. The bag feeding device consists of a vacuum suction head and a bag feeding chain. While the empty bag 2 is transported from the empty bag container 1 to the blowing and bag-opening station, the air line 3 uses the clamping arms of the conveyor chain 9 to blow air into the bag opening to open it. As soon as the opened empty bag is transported to the station below the solid material hoppers 4 and 5, it is filled with material or filled with liquid material via the liquid feed 6. The chain conveyor 9 is equipped with specially designed clamping arms. Each pair of clamping arms securely holds a bag in place. The bag filled with material continues moving and is sealed, cold-pressed, and shaped by the heater 7; finally, the clamping arm releases the bag, and the finished product falls down and is discharged by the discharge conveyor.
The illustration shows an empty bag with a three-sided seal. The finished bag can be sealed on all four sides. The material used to manufacture the bags is a single-layer film or a laminated film. Single-layer film is not used because it makes it difficult to remove and handle the bag.

Graduation

Packaging pouches and vacuum packaging machines are indispensable in the food and pharmaceutical industries for ensuring product quality and extending shelf life. Various types of bags are available to accommodate different materials and aesthetic requirements. Vacuum packaging machines improve the preservation process by removing air, preventing oxidation, and facilitating thermal sterilization. The design and operation of single-chamber and double-chamber vacuum packaging machines play a key role in optimizing the packaging process, making it more efficient, reliable, and suitable for a wide range of products. Understanding these packaging methods is essential for optimizing packaging operations and ensuring that products are well protected during storage and transport.

Discover the different types of packaging pouches (pillow-shaped, flat, self-supporting) and learn more about the role of vacuum packaging machines in extending shelf life, improving packaging quality, and increasing efficiency in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

"_seopress_social_twitter_img_attachment_id":0
[1

post-9245","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog
["GET
