What is Mantou?
Mantou, also known as steamed bun, originated in China. In Northern Chinese cuisine, there is nothing more basic and classic than this type of steamed
Rolls made from ground wheat flour, water and raising agents. If you want to try making mantou, a few simple steps are enough:
1. Activate the yeast in the warm water; place the yeast, flour, water, salt, and sugar in a stand mixer to mix well; knead for 20 minutes until the dough is smooth, soft and not sticky.
Dough is smooth, soft and non-sticky; Let the dough rest for 45-60 minutes.
2. Cut the dough in half and roll into logs, then cut each log into 4 pieces and roll these into small round/square shapes; Let rest for 30 minutes.
3. Finally, steam the dough for 15-20 minutes.
