What is food drying?
The drying of food is one of the oldest methods of water removal to preserve food for later use.
Drying removes moisture from the food so that bacteria, yeast and mold cannot grow and spoil the food.
Examples of dried foods include jerky, powdered milk, dried beans and peas, canned potatoes, dried fruits and vegetables, pasta and rice.
Dried fruits are unique, tasty and nutritious; Dried vegetables can also be preserved by drying them.
First, wash the fruits and vegetables and peel them if necessary.
To dry they can be halved or cut into smaller shapes, some can be left whole.
